Eco-Friendly Disposal

Not Just Hauling.
Responsible Disposal.

Most junk removal companies load the truck and drive straight to the landfill. It's the path of least resistance. The Wreckin' Haul takes a different approach — every load is sorted before disposal and everything that can be diverted is diverted.

Furniture in good condition goes to donation centers. Electronics go to certified e-waste recyclers. Metal gets sorted to scrap recyclers. Green waste goes to licensed composting facilities. Only what genuinely has no second life ends up at a landfill — and that fraction is smaller than most people expect.

How We Dispose

Three Streams.
Landfill Is the Last One.

Every load we haul is evaluated across three disposal streams. Here's how each one works.

Recycle

Materials that can't be reused are sorted and routed to the right recycling facility.

  • Electronics and e-waste — certified recyclers
  • Scrap metal — metal recycling facilities
  • Green waste and yard debris — composting
  • Cardboard and paper — where applicable
  • Appliances — metal and component recovery
Certified facilities only

Last Resort: Landfill

Only what genuinely can't be donated or recycled ends up at a landfill — the smallest fraction of every load.

  • Broken items with no reuse value
  • Contaminated or degraded materials
  • Mixed loads with no separable components
  • Items declined by donation and recycling facilities
Smallest fraction of every load

FAQ

Common Questions
About Our Services

Everything you’d want to know before booking. If something isn’t covered here, just call — we’re happy to answer.

Does eco-friendly disposal cost more than standard junk removal?
No. Responsible disposal is built into how we operate on every job — it's not an add-on or a premium tier. You pay for junk removal. The sorting, donation coordination and recycling routing are part of the job, not an extra charge.
Can I find out what happened to my items after removal?
We can give you a general breakdown of what was donated, recycled and disposed of after the job if you ask. For estate cleanouts and commercial jobs where documentation matters, let us know upfront and we'll track disposal routes in more detail.
Which donation organizations do you work with?
We work with local North County San Diego organizations and donation centers. The specific recipients vary based on what's available to receive a particular type of item on a given day. All donations stay within the North County community rather than being shipped out of the area.
Are old TVs and monitors really recycled and not just dumped?
Yes. E-waste — TVs, monitors, computers, phones — goes to certified e-waste recycling facilities. This is non-negotiable. Electronics contain heavy metals and toxic components that cause real environmental harm when landfilled. Every piece of e-waste we collect goes to a certified recycler, no exceptions.
What percentage of a typical load gets diverted from landfill?
On a typical residential cleanout, more than half the load is diverted through donation, recycling or composting. The exact figure depends on what's in the load — a garage full of old furniture and appliances diverts significantly more than a pile of broken construction debris. But every job gets the same sorting treatment regardless.
Can you remove items specifically for donation without hauling everything?
Yes. If you have a specific set of items you want donated and don't need a full junk removal appointment, we can coordinate a targeted donation pickup. Tell us what you have and where you are — we'll let you know if it's a good fit for a standalone donation run.
